My 2010 Chevy Silverado came with two cigarette lighter sockets. Actually one was just a 12V port for plugging in chargers etc. I didn't need a cigarette lighter port anyway. When I bought a used truck, the previous owner installed a radio. It has a USB port on the back so you can use the screen radio with Android Auto GPS. There was a USB cable connected to the radio and the cable lay with the female end on a trance bump in the ground. He connected a short USB cable to it to use Android Auto. I wanted it to look cleaner and decided to do it that way. I installed it where the cigarette lighter port was. By the way, I had to enlarge the old hole in the dashboard a bit. This new USB port requires a 1 1/8" hole, and the hole in my dashboard was just over 1". never mind Use a round file or rasp to enlarge the hole. Just a couple of minutes.
