Review on Swellegant Patina Combo Pack - 4 Pieces for Perfect Patina Results by Randy Olson

Warning: eats holes in aluminum foil

Above all, this set is fun to play with. I attached the test pattern to a strip of copper tape. I used a piece of aluminum foil to separate each piece, thinking it would hold moisture, and I could see if there was any reaction on the aluminum foil. Two tests in one! First I rubbed the tape with acetone, let it dry, painted it on aluminum foil, moistened it with water, shook the bottles and applied the patina liquid with a brush. left alone for 24 hours. Came back, put the sample under the water and gently rubbed it with your finger. Sapphire Blue: Beautiful, but the least color impact when applied from the bottle, and also the least staying power. Washes off like chalk. Perhaps repeated applications would be useful, but almost no trace of blue was left on the sample. Green Gold and Tiffany Rust: They look almost the same on my sample (probably because it's on copper). Both took a few hours to really transform into a beautiful shade of green. Both stand up to underwater swimming and light abrasion, but I'd definitely use sealant. Green-Gold left a black coating on aluminum. Blackout: Starts working almost immediately, then goes pitch black after a few hours. Withstands walking under water and a little more friction. A black residue remains on aluminum. It seems that several lighter applications have better adhesion than one heavier cast. I touched the darkening patina on the sample after about an hour and it smeared the sample like soot, but after 24 hours it seemed more resilient. me. I wouldn't use it on aluminum. I'm glad I got a set of samples of all four, I'm just not sure if blue patina is used that often thinking that diluted acrylic can look the same and have much better durability. .
