Review on OXO 1071567 Cheese Replaceable Multicolor by Patrick Ordonez

We chose this cheese slicer because we like some of the other OXO products we have. They are durable and easy to use. The replaceable wire and the ability to tighten it seemed like a real plus. However, this big boy did not satisfy our need to make a slice of cheese of the desired thickness. This works great when you want a sheave that is nearly 5/8 inch from wire to coil. As with most rotary cutters, tilt the handle down for thinner slices. slightly thinner slices and very little success trying to get thin slices (e.g. 1/8 inch). Attempting to slice thinly left a roller coaster ride on the block of cheese. We have been satisfied with Presto slicers for many years. However, they degraded the quality of the metal, as metal flakes now detach from the roll. We think the clearance is too small on their 3 inch reel model. And we've never found a good food slicer with an adjustable roller. So we're still looking.
