OXO 1071567 Cheese Replaceable Multicolor Review

Have been using this for a few years now and have changed the wire several times! This works fairly well with soft cheeses, but with anything harder than mozzarella, expect the wire to either break or dislocate, which is very difficult to put back together. Today was the last straw for me. I have been using OXO products for many years and have never had any problems with this item.

I purchased this item without reading previous reviews as I have several OXO products that work great. No shipping or delivery issues and it even comes with a spare cable. On my fourth use (two days past my return window) a tiny piece holding the wire in place broke rendering it unusable. The only solution is to replace the whole thing. Lesson learned.

I wore this product for about a month. When cleaning the cable I noticed that it was loose. The thumb grip could not be pulled. I noticed a click as I tried to tighten it. I requested OXO customer service and waited 48 hours for a response as suggested on the website. No answer so I'm guessing they closed their doors due to CV-19 or other reasons.

My old cheese slicer wouldn't tighten the cutting wire. I ordered this simply because I could tighten the wire AND because it was "recommended". No, this cheese slicer has a design flaw. THE CUTTING WIRE WILL NOT BE HOLDED as there is no slot to hold the wire. Every time I try to use it, the cutting wire pops out no matter how tight I tightened it (and I tightened it damn tight). There must be a design flaw.

I had one that I bought from Bed Bath Beyond. Great article. However, it broke after 4 years. Bought 2 from Revain. The small grooves holding the wire on the outside of the curved frame are much shorter than my original. The wire keeps slipping. Very disappointed. Like everything else in the world, like crap. Companies just don't care about quality anymore, it's all about greed and profit.

Avoid like the plague. While I've had great success with XOX before (including my previous OXO cheese slicer which lasted 4 years), something has changed in the quality department. We chose this cheese slicer because we like some of the other OXO products we have. They are durable and easy to use. The replaceable wire and the ability to tighten it seemed like a real plus. This product is an example of a great idea that was executed so poorly you have to wonder what they were thinking . In its current form, the OXO "Good Grips Wire Cheese Slicer" is suitable as a slicer. It has excellent grip and looks very good. Best for cutting thick (rather than thin) slices of cheese due to non-adjustable distance between wire and roller. The real problem lies in the cable itself.
