Quality Cast Iron - Frying Pans

We have really old cast iron, incredibly heavy, aged well and passed down from generation to generation. Children are happy to help us in the kitchen, but they are NOT allowed to cook on or with our cast iron. So we decided to buy them one of them. We started with this 10 inch pan. It's not light at 7.5 pounds, but it's a lot lighter than some of our other products. We got it two weeks ago and spent the first week and a half teaching them how to cook and "season" the pan. Then we finally let them cook in it. First there was the simple food. Scrambled eggs. Second, they baked cornbread. Obviously the more they cook the better. The food cooks evenly and the pan distributes the heat well. The sheathing of the handle is made of silicone, which prevents touching the hot handle. There is also a short handle on the top of the pan. This is important as cast iron is heavier and the handles on opposite ends make the pan easier to carry. Good thing it comes with a tempered glass lid. Gives us a lot more options for cooking. Speaking of cooking options. This pan can be used on gas or electric, on any stove material or type, in the oven and even on an outdoor grill or campfire. We make sure to follow the cast iron instructions and our little chefs love to learn how to cook with their own cast iron.
