Works great on Comcast

I'm getting the full 200Mbps download speed I'm paying for on Comcast with this modem. The modem also has a great form factor and charges quickly. I bought it for $20, which will pay for itself in two months after I don't have to pay Comcast's rent. I prefer a standalone modem and use my own router. In particular, Comcast will allow the public to connect to a combo router/modem that they install over the "xfinitywifi" network and they make it very difficult to disable this feature. Using this modem with my own router completely eliminates this problem. When I called Comcast to set up the modem, the process failed and the support rep didn't know why. It turns out that after the support agent sent a signal to the modem, I had to start the installation process in the browser. You can access the setup page by going to any website (like you do to connect to the hotel's WiFi). I've also had trouble trying to run a coaxial cable through a surge protector before connecting it to the modem. When I ran a coax cable from the wall to the surge protector and then another coax cable from the surge protector to my modem, it slowed down my internet speed. Running the coax straight from the wall to my modem gave me the full speed I'm paying for.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Hard to remember but it was
