Review on Vantrue Receiver Module Suction Windows Car & Vehicle Electronics by Karen Parker

Poor spacial design resulting in longer cam, arm/ball seat not set to 90 degrees

This review isn't about how well GPS works. I want to say it works, but I haven't really bothered to test this feature. This review concerns the spatial and structural design of the product, with which I am not satisfied. I want to install this camera just behind the driver's mirror without seeing it. The whole mechanism looks like it's perfectly hidden, as mentioned in many reviews. Do not enter the GPS key yet. A non-GPS attachment may fit behind a mirror, so don't quote me on that. So what happens is that the GPS app makes the entire block longer so it might extend past your rearview mirror as it's not ergonomically designed. When you plug in the power cord, the device keeps sliding into the locked position simply because you can't bend the cord. And when the device's suction cup is attached, you can only mount it in the upright position, giving you an extension of the GPS attachment as well as a section of cable that doesn't bend. You can't rotate the lever/ball socket to lock the cup horizontally and then adjust the cam at a 90 degree angle to save the overall length of the device. The suction nozzle also pivots to the left, which I don't think is very practical since most people wind the cable on the passenger side to the right, in the US of course. It might be a good device for the price, but the design could be a compromise. Again, I am only considering the construction of the attachment of the structure of this unit.
