This tub spout appears to be a replacement for the [really replica] American Standard "Williamsburg" tub set we bought from Home Depot about 15 years ago. The "Williamsburg" brand appears to have been discontinued by American Standard, although it is still available at select plumbing supply stores and on this online auction site. Our Southern California water is rich in minerals, and the mineral deposits eventually destroy the rubber washer that seals the plastic diverter. So if you pull the switch in the shower and water STILL flows out of the tub spout, you are actually wasting water [and the water pressure in the showerhead isn't as high as it could be]. You can actually only replace the switch disc; However, we had broken part of the bathtub spout [mostly just metal coated plastic] so we replaced the entire spout. This tub spout assembly includes a shroud [which was also part of the original plumbing kit]. Dimensions, build quality and materials are EXACTLY the same as the original, so we are satisfied. However, when I rotated the spout, I landed about 1/8 inch from the snug fit of the spout/liner against the tiled tub wall. I'm sure a professional plumber would have just put a wrench [or channel locks] on that spout and turned it back on, but I didn't dare do any damage. There are no leaks so I'll just fill that tiny gap with caulk.
