Review on Effortless Baking: OXO Good Grips Medium Cookie Scoop for Perfectly Portioned Cookies by Cyndy Segotta

Revainrating 2 out of 5

A poor quality product that relies on marketing for its sense of quality.

After OXO Good Grips Green Salad Spinner was a huge hit over other brands that collapsed, I returned to this brand when I bought a cookie spoon. I sometimes make large batches of cookies, so grip was a top priority. It arrived broken, but you can "fix" the pinion shaft to reconnect it to the arm teeth by squeezing the boom, lifting the pinion shaft and sliding the row of teeth back into place. This is already a bad sign, as that easy "fixing" indicates that it's also easy to break. As the brush moves, it is compressed to a tolerance of 2-5mm relative to the inner diameter of the vane wall. This poor tolerance means the scoop leaves a lot of batter or batter on the walls. I put it back together and squeezed it a few times without even checking for cookie dough and the gear came loose again. I would not recommend this product.
