Review on Dimmable LED, Halogen & Incandescent Bulbs: Lutron Diva DVWCL-153PH-WH Single/3-Way White Wallplate Dimmer by Wesley Holmes

Dims Four Great Eagle BR30 LEDs Fine

This Lutron DVWCL-153PH-WH Diva Dimmable CFL/LED Dimmer with Wallplate, White works well with the Great Eagle (6-pack) LED BR30 3000K Dimmable Bulb. 13 Watt (65W 75W 90W) UL Listed Bright White Light for Recessed and Track Lighting Fixtures - USA Seller .I have the dimmer controlling four of the Great Eagle LEDs in a 3-way (two switches) configuration.Be aware that that is a secondary dimmer "trimmer" slider accessible from the front of the dimmer before you install the switch plate. This secondary trimmer adjusts the minimum voltage delivered to the lamps. You turn the lights on, run the main dimmer slider to minimum, then slide the tiny trimmer slider to get minimum light output that still can turn the lamps on. With the trimmer set to minimum, only three of the four Great Eagles lit when I turned them off and back on while at minimum dim. I simply slid the trimmer up a tad until all four turned on. That's now my new minimum dim position. Very easy. The Great Eagles do not flicker or emit an audible buzz (although they are 10 feet in the air outdoors in a patio cover, so they may be buzzing ever so slightly, but if they are I can't hear them. The spec says the dimmer can handle up to 150 watts of LEDs. The four 13-watt bulbs I'm controlling are obviously only 46 watts total, so I'm well within limits. One note: verify the color of your existing switches and plates. I thought my plates were white, so I ordered the white dimmer. Turn out my switchplate color is "light almond." Almost white, but not. And you can select from four colors.Easy to install. Came with four large yellow wirenuts and a smaller black wirenut. Also two 6-32 x 1" installation screws to attach to the box. Be aware there are no wire attachment post/screws for you to wrap existing wire around. Four stranded, pre-stripped wires come out of the back of the unit. Black, Red (the traveler), White/Red stripe and Green (ground). It's up to you to figure the wiring of your existing system. I had to reverse the Black and White/Red stripe to get the system to function. But it works fine. Just know that you will have to wirenut this device to the existing wiring. Make sure the wirenuts secure the stranded device wires tightly to the solid 12 or 14 ga existing wires.I used my old switchplate so it would match the others and did not need the modern, clean 2-part hidden-fastener plate that came with the dimmer. Full instructions also included.
