I mounted this 18w UV vertically to the output of my Fluval FX4 filter to replace an 8w in PVC pipe. My intent was to eliminate green algae growth on the walls of my 75 gallon acrylic aquarium. I still have some algae despite all the filtration and UV - but its manageable. The install was relatively easy. The UV has adaptors that fit the FX4 hose perfectly. The stiffness of the hose makes the hookup a little difficult, but it fits (must use hose clamps and silicon to ensure against leaks). The UV is a match for the 700 gal rate of the FX4. I really like the clear fitting for the UV input because you can easily verify water flow from the filter.
