Big unit. Much bigger then previously units used.

Awsome, cleaned pond! update since Feb 2019, unit does not work now, bulb burn out, got a complementary bulb from seller WYZworks, it turns out the unit not getting power, so i am out a $64 unit. The motor on the thing must be burn out. Email WYZworks they said the manufacture Oxyful had a one year warranty, but no one can tell me there customer service number and i cant find nothing online for a number. If you know the company please email or post on here.

Pros
  • Sealed with gaskets and o-rings for secure seal for a great working uv filter.
Cons
  • The bulb burned out in 2 months

I bought this July 2017, and it did the .

I bought this July 2017, and it did the job well, hence the 3 stars. The only issue is that once the winter came and the weather got to 19 degrees the main glass housing that holds the bulb shattered into little pieces. I had to unplug it because it kept popping the C/B. I thought it was just the bulb but when I opened it I was surprised to find the entire housing shattered. Disappointing that I now have to buy an entire new UV light assembly.

Pros
  • Awesome product, this is my 2nd Oxyful UV Ultraviolet light. I will continue to use Oxful products.
Cons
  • May not work with certain types of lighting setups

Works great - my new review

I've owned a couple of these over the years for my pond. They seem to last 2-3 seasons if you are careful with them. I struggled with green water this spring then realized my old UV filter was shot. I've an 800 gallon pond and this filter cleared up my water in a matter of a few days and kept the water crystal clear all summer.

Pros
  • Fish pond of 1000gals
Cons
  • It sucks! Died in 5 months, nightmare bulb change. Cant reach company for warranty n

didn't work until i tapped it (foreshadowing)(UPDATE)

didn't work until i tapped it then it worked until i unplugged it. when i plugged it back in, nothing. waiting to hear from mfg.(UPDATE) Contact the company and after sending the faulty light to them they replaced it and it has been working great. Took 4-5 days to clear an 1800 Gal Pond from solid green to seeing the bottom.

Pros
  • Cleared my pond from pea soup to crystal clear in 3 days!
Cons
  • Might not be ideal for very large aquariums or ponds

Works Great with my75 gallon cichlid tank

I mounted this 18w UV vertically to the output of my Fluval FX4 filter to replace an 8w in PVC pipe. My intent was to eliminate green algae growth on the walls of my 75 gallon acrylic aquarium. I still have some algae despite all the filtration and UV - but its manageable. The install was relatively easy. The UV has adaptors that fit the FX4 hose perfectly. The stiffness of the hose makes the hookup a little difficult, but it fits (must use hose clamps and silicon to ensure against leaks). The…

Pros
  • work good have no algae in my pond for two months
Cons
  • Could create a glare or bright spot in the water, which may be undesirable for some

It leaked and the O ring broke.

It leaked as soon as I set it up. Tried adjusting the large orange O ring. It still leaked so tried again, at which point the O ring broke in two pieces. So now I’m struggling to find a replacement O ring.Update: Unable to find a replacement O ring. Tried another ring but it was too large. So now I have an unusable $65 uv clarifier as I am past the allowable return date.Update #2: Thank you to Angie at WYZ for asking me to contact the company, and for sending me a replacement O ring as the…

Pros
  • Uv light sterilizes very well now the water in the fish tank is much clearer than before
Cons
  • Can be difficult to install and set up for some users
