everyone on the internet said the pl1050 fits the 1988-1998 Chevy K2500. I think technically it is, but the amount of modifications I had to make to the product was ridiculous. I don't write reviews but this really disappointed me. Maybe I just got a defective item that I don't know about? I had to bend the tab that the screw attaches to so you can get it to take the screw and fit into the hole. More specifically, I had to clamp it in a vise and drive it in with a hammer. I admit it, the steel is thick. Then I had to grind the latch mechanism myself so it really closed and didn't just touch the latch. My tailgate is in stock. If you really want to latch the tailgate the way I wanted this product will do, but you'd better have a vise, hammer and grinder and 3 hours to get it working.
