Spent 30 HOURS TROUBLESHOOTING AND REPLACING SONY BLURAY 3 TIMES Bought this unit, set it up. He worked for several weeks and then stopped responding to the remote control or the control buttons on the device. USE A FEW HOURS TROUBLESHOOTING ON THE SONY WEBSITE. FINALLY DIFFICULT TO FIND THE CUSTOMER SUPPORT PHONE NUMBER THEY LET ME SEARCH FOR SOME CIRCLES BEFORE GIVING ME THE REPLACEMENT LABEL. They replaced the BDPS3500 with the BDPS3700 model. I set up a new block and it worked initially. WHEN I THEN TRYED TO OPEN THE DISK CASE, A MESSAGE APPEARS THAT "CHILD CONTROLS” HAVE BEEN ON AND CHILD LOCKS TURNED OFF. I WAS SEARCHING HOW TO MAKE IT. A MESSAGE APPEARS THAT THE EJECT BUTTON IS ACTIVE BUT THE LOCK MESSAGE IS STILL READY AND THE DISC TRAY WILL NOT OPEN. I WENT ONLINE TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT OTHERS HAD THIS PROBLEM BUT DID NOT FIND A SOLUTION. I CALL CUSTOMER SUPPORT AND SPENT HOURS TRYING DIFFERENT RESET OPTIONS - TURN OFF AND ON - START HOLDING THE BUTTONS. FINALLY THEY SENT A STICKER FOR A REFUND. I PACKED THE DEFECTIVE DEVICE. YOU RETURNED THE SAME DEVICE AND OPENED AND CLOSED THE DVD DRAWER. Three days later the problem reappeared. I tried all the troubleshooting steps and called customer service. Instead of offering to set up the exchange, they made me spend another two hours trying through commitments to fix the bugs they had previously lost. I FINALLY HAVE ANOTHER RETURN LABEL. I DON'T KNOW IF I RECEIVED A LEMON AS IT IS A CLAIMED DEFECT YOU CAN FIND ON THE SONY WEBSITE. BECAUSE THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, YOU SHOULD NOT FORCE ANY CUSTOMER to jump through hoops and spend hours looking for a solution. SONY SUPPORT PHONE NUMBERS ARE HARD TO FIND: 888-222-7669 or 239-768-7602 (out of hours). NO NUMBER WORKS PERMANENTLY.
