Review on πŸ”₯ Ultralight Folding Titanium Stove - Esbit 11.5g (0.4 Ounce) for Efficient Use with Solid Fuel Tablets by Michael Paquette

Revainrating 5 out of 5

An ultra-lightweight underlay solution! Perfect for eating in the mountains

The small titanium coaster is great but the rating below is a combined rating of coaster + Esbit fuel cubes. So if you are looking for ultra light solutions, this is a great solution. Choice, but not universal. Are you a mountain house style backpacker, which means you only need to boil 2 cups of water at a time to rehydrate your bagged meal? If so, then I highly recommend using Esbit fire cubes and standing like that for a while. However, if your dishes are more complex, require multiple steps, or require boiling more than 2 cups of water, then this probably isn't the solution for you. This little oven has many advantages, but not without a few. Defects. Pros: Ultralight Small, foldable and takes up almost no space in a backpack. Fuel cubes allow you to measure the exact amount of fuel you need to take with you. It is impossible to guess how much fuel is left in the tank. You can literally just count the dice and find out how many dishes you get. 1 cube = 2 cups of boiling water = 1 standard Berghaus fuel cube can be used as a fire starter (when the rain got wet I used one to start a fire) fuel cubes are independent of height. Cons: Dice stink. It has a chemically rotting fishy smell. But as long as you don't hold it up to your nose, it's not that bad. The cube pack is very easy to pierce. Gives your backpack a pleasant scent. So pack them carefully. Wind can be an issue. I highly recommend the windshield. I made one out of a disposable cooking pan. When they burn, they emit thin burning plastic or rubber. Not bad, but not pleasant either. The worst thing about Esbit fuel cubes is the black, sooty, oily, waxy residue that collects on the bottom of the pot and on the grate. So pay attention to where and how you store your pot and rack so that no residue is left behind.
