The half inch female end is too big. It simply turns around a square pin on the winch.

1. I tried clamping the bushing onto the rod on all 4 sides. I was tight enough to slip through the square bolt on the spare tire winch, but when I tried to tighten the tire, the bushing popped open and just spun on the bolt. It's just soft metal. So I restored the socket to its original shape and flipped up the inside to tighten the bolt snugly. That worked for now. Maybe I don't need it more than once. I could have spent less but thought it was worth spending a little more. They probably all come from the same door in China.
