I had to lower the spare tire. The square end of the tube is bent to prevent the tire from dropping just a foot. I switched to the second bar and lowered the tire, but I had to pry it back with a hammer a couple of times to get the spare back in place. I doubt it will fall again. Totally disappointed it wasn't even used.

  • Elegant design

Broken on first use

Broken on first use. The section pictured has started to freewheel, rendering the entire jack useless as there is no other way to connect it to the jack. The one on the left is a standard Chevy part and the one on the right is this piece of junk. You can see where the Chevy is and isn't welded, which likely caused the breakdown. Spend a little more money and get something that actually works in a roadside emergency.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Exchange possible

One-use miracle. for tire changers

So I had to drop the spare tire to get new shock absorbers. Dropped a tire with no problems! Swapped the spare wheel and put it back on the wire, and that's when the problems started. Did about 10 turns and started to slip. I noticed the lack of movement so I pulled it out and looked at the hole. He had moved out. I tried separating the two pieces and grabbing them with a new wrench but they wouldn't separate. I had to bang on the sides to tighten it and have my girlfriend take out the slack…

1. I tried clamping the bushing onto the rod on all 4 sides. I was tight enough to slip through the square bolt on the spare tire winch, but when I tried to tighten the tire, the bushing popped open and just spun on the bolt. It's just soft metal. So I restored the socket to its original shape and flipped up the inside to tighten the bolt snugly. That worked for now. Maybe I don't need it more than once. I could have spent less but thought it was worth spending a little more. They probably all…

Doesn't work bullshit don't buy

I usually have no problem buying aftermarket quality rental equipment, I just want it to work, it doesn't work. If the company had ever tested this product, they would have known it didn't work. The problem is that the original has a metal ring around the base to reinforce it and this one doesn't. Once you use it, the base will round off and won't work with the winch. After this block failed the first time I got a set from my wife's country house, what's the difference, it works fine. I have…

Critical fault Good for tools and gear

I bought this set because my (used) car didn't come with a leg with a jack hook. I found this out when I had to change a tire and just had to jack the car up with the flat end of a wrench. I swore I wouldn't do it again. Thanks to this set I'm pretty close. With the jack halfway out, I found that the hook popped out when I turned the extension handle to the wrench! Totally out! I put it back in and tried hammering the end in to "squeeze" it harder, but it popped back out. In the end the open…

2000, 1500 GME Sierra Experience lifting spare tires.

My experience can help you decide I bought my Sierra used in February 2019. I've put 272,000 miles on it and plan on using it just as a means of getting the boat ashore. The jack and tool kit were missing so both were needed. This tool set serves both the jack and the spare wheel jack. My jack's short input shaft is a square with worn/rounded corners that don't provide enough engagement. Because of this, the Red Hound's square end slipped and warped and therefore did not rotate the lift shaft…
