Review on Trident Marine 1230 1411 L P Regulator by Brian Evans

Non-marine design or quality

I bought one of these "marine" controls and then found that the brackets that came with the kit are all galvanized steel. Then I checked and found that you have to buy the stainless steel brackets separately - $20 more and ditch the zinc brackets. When I received the marine grade brackets I found that the 4 screws that came with it were still zinc plated even though the packaging said they were stainless steel! The bolts were metric, so I tapped the bracket holes to #8-32 threads since I didn't have metric stainless steel bolts on hand. Controller to use remote shutdown. You will need a solenoid unless you want to go to a physical location to manually turn off the system. You either forgo the automatic switching feature and use one solenoid valve, or maybe 2 manual valves, or alternatively 2 solenoid valves, but the regular Xintex remote will not handle the flow of two valves! You also double your battery consumption! In my opinion this regulator is basically a RV unit rebranded for marine use. The Trident website plans make no mention of a solenoid valve commonly used in ship systems. Benefits: 2-stage regulator and built-in pressure gauges to check the system for leaks.
