After reading enough negative reviews I was willing to put some effort into this spatula upon receipt - raw handle and rough metal edges. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived with the handle completely finished and the edges of the spatula punched clean. It took me a few minutes to go over the sandpaper between the slots of the trowel, but even that wasn't really necessary. Not to say it's perfect, but I wasn't expecting it at this price point. But it's better than I hoped. The handle is processed - no roughness and possible splinters, the blade is thin with the desired bend, the tip is ground, but not sharp. It easily cuts pancakes or fish fillets, but not steak. Overall, a well-made, firm-feeling spatula requires little to no extra work in the kitchen.
