A: Because they are junk and you break the nipple when you try to attach the fuel line to it. As cheap as the plastic is, they should let it sit loose and give you a couple of clips to install it. The first broke during installation, and the second crackled when installing the hoses. It works long enough to mow, but I'll be buying another filter to replace this week. Don't waste your time! Shame on your MFG for not solving this problem. I only wish I had read ALL the reviews beforehand so I'm embarrassed too.
