Add fuel filter for B&S engines

Engine will not start even when using electric start. I watched problems with plastic carburetors on Briggs and Stratton 725 engines on YouTube, disassembled the mower, cleaned the carburetor and tank. This fuel filter has been added with a new fuel hose and 2 extra hose clamps. The port jet on the plastic carburetor is so small that it can easily become clogged with dirt in the fuel pump. I opened it up with brake cleaner. I cleaned the inside of the tank and switched to Trufuel and now the…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • unreliable

There were no instructions or markings on the filter regarding flow. I tried to plug the first one backwards and the plastic case broke. I flipped the second one over and saw that each end is slightly different in size, so it only fits on my mower one way. Make sure you are betting in the right direction. I had already thrown away the old filter so I didn't know which way to put it. Worked and solved my problem.

Q: Do you want to know why they give you 2?

A: Because they are junk and you break the nipple when you try to attach the fuel line to it. As cheap as the plastic is, they should let it sit loose and give you a couple of clips to install it. The first broke during installation, and the second crackled when installing the hoses. It works long enough to mow, but I'll be buying another filter to replace this week. Don't waste your time! Shame on your MFG for not solving this problem. I only wish I had read ALL the reviews beforehand so I'm…

Cheap. Buy a name you can trust.

Inexpensive. The first filter housing broke when I tried to insert the end into the 1/4" fuel line. The second continued as I pushed down on the fuel hose very, very gently. After a while it started to bend to the side. The Fuel hose is routed with a slight twist of about 90 degrees This is clearly too much for these filters Afraid it would fail too I removed it, threw it away and bought a well known brand in-line filter Wow what a great one Difference in quality and stiffness! Not a very…
