Read some mixed reviews. I went to Lowes and bought a hose clamp to attach the hose that came with the pump and an extra 10ft of hose to connect to so I could be sure the hose wasn't in the boat. I warmed up the boat for 10 minutes, screwed the pump onto the dipstick stem and easily pumped out over 3 liters of oil. It started to leak a little towards the end, but I wrapped it in fabric and there were no major problems. It comes off so I washed it with warm soapy water and some Simple Green so I hope it works the same way next time. This is of course better than trying to siphon oil through the dipstick well with hoses, which I tried before buying.
