Wooden pestles do not fit in a sieve. Was completely useless as a strainer for applesauce, which is what I ordered it for. Due to the vertical protrusion at the top of the strainer/strainer, the wooden pestle cannot sit flush with the inside of the strainer. This way there is a gap between the ram and the screen and you cannot push down any material you are trying to pass through the screen. Waste of time ordering one if you plan on using a plunger to strain (that's why you usually buy a colander of this shape).
