Review on ✂️ Wiha 56818 Precision Electronic Diagonal Cutters: Wide Pointed Head for Accurate Cuts by Douglas Cochrane

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Better than Snap-On at half the price. 4 1/2 years

These are excellent side cutters. I've been a professional auto electrician for 18 years and a pair of good little wire cutters is a constant must. I've only used snap-ons for many years, but they're really overpriced, so I started looking for alternatives. I've used other Wiha tools in the past and the price was right so I went for it. At this point I have been using and abusing these clippers non-stop for about a year. They cut 16 gauge copper wire with ease. They also cut flush cable ties, even heavy 14" cable ties. Like I said. Abuse. Of course, even after a year, they still have a flawless cutting edge and absolutely no play in the hinge. The grips still feel comfortable, they still fit tightly without slipping or deforming. The handles are easily cleaned with a little windshield fluid or rubbing alcohol, and the knives still look, feel and function just as they did the day I received them. By comparison, snap-ons are usually showing signs of wear by this point, and I've never been on the road more than 2 years before having to replace them. I have little doubt that a year from now I will be using the same pair of Wihas. These are professional editors and I can wholeheartedly recommend them.------------------------------ ------- -- ---- ----- Update: Already 2 1/2 years of daily use and they still show no signs of wear. They are still razor sharp and have absolutely no slop. Now they've outlasted every pair of Snappy's I've ever owned. These are the best flush cutters I've ever had. --------------------------- ---------------- ----------------Update: 4 1/ 2 years of daily violence. They're just starting to get a little boring, but are still quite usable. Spring is still as good as day one and the bow is still perfect. The pens still look new when I clean them. I might buy another pair next year. The last few years have been very bad in terms of abuse. I've cut thousands of cable ties, sometimes even the large 24" and 36" that require multiple cuts, cut tens of thousands of wires, even as large as 12 AWG copper stranded wire, I've cut paracord, 26 AWG thin steel wire, Cat6 wire , coaxial cable, 18-4 shielded cable and the list goes on and on. At the end of the day they are thrown into the tool bag without hesitation. These cutters are the best since Betty White.
