Our Dyson DC-14 recently had an issue which resulted in it just not turning on half the time. My wife was ready for a new vacuum but with the Dyson being so expensive and having only 7 years to live I wasn't ready to give up just yet. A simple Google search brought up a wonderful UK vacuum cleaner repair site. There I found that the actuator switch often works for Dyson and the site even has a video of the repair. After finding this switch at Revain, I couldn't pass up an opportunity to revive my precious Dyson for only $5. As always, Revain delivered the part in record time and I proceeded to the repair phase. The actual repair turned out to be a bit more difficult than it appears in the video. I think if you regularly took your Dyson apart to clean all the contacts etc it might be easier (but really, who does that?). However, the rubber and plastic gaskets were quite stuck/melted together so removing the plastic cover without damage wasn't easy. Once I exposed the old switch it was easy. The old one had obvious burn marks and I just pulled out 2 wires and put them in this new switch and voila! A newly restored and purring Dyson.
