I bought these because I recently moved to an area where the neighbors have seen scorpions. The light seems pretty bright - I'll get a better idea of that tonight when I go out to see if we have scorpions. The flashlights did not come with instructions in the box and I was confused as to how the batteries fit until I pulled the product out. on the side and found that there is a middle cartridge that slides out, put the batteries in, then put the cartridge back in and screw the top and bottom. I only gave it two stars because of my biggest disappointment with them - they work*. I put new batteries in both and when the second one didn't work I tried another set of fresh batteries - still no cubes. I hope those who work continue to do so.
