I've been using HP's 25-inch glossy monitor for several years now and I still think it's one of the best displays I've seen. I decided to switch to 21:9 ultrawide after purchasing a new gaming laptop with DisplayPort out and in preparation for future desktop upgrades. The colors and contrast on this monitor are excellent! The included remote control is a nice touch, so you don't have to search for buttons on the monitor and can turn it off from across the room. The remote control is very light (perhaps too light in my opinion) and has a stylish, curved design. Monitor speakers are good. It's not something I'd ever use when I'm fully immersed in a game or movie, but it's a good alternative if I've been directing the receiver's audio to the TV during a show and I still want a Youtube Clip or whatever you want to watch while the commercial is still on the monitor. (without changing the sound source). You need a lot of power to run games at 3440 x 1440. My current MSI GT72S is equipped with a desktop GTX 980, 32 GB DDR4 RAM and the new Skylake i7. This machine can run most games at 3440 x 1440 (5 million pixels) at reasonable frame rates (mostly 25-50 fps) with anti-aliasing disabled. The gaming experience on this monitor is incredible. It was so immersive at first that it was a bit annoying because before my peripheral vision went beyond the screen and now every part of my vision is connected to the virtual world. It's almost like virtual reality. GTA V in first person is so immersive in this aspect ratio/resolution that it's impossible to describe. Now I'm used to the immersive experience and I'm playing great games like Just Cause 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider in the 21:9 aspect ratio at the highest resolution. The films can also convince. Blu-ray isn't easy to set up for this format due to hard-coded black bars, but ArcSoft Total Media Theater properly scales widescreen movies to fill the screen and the result is phenomenal. Sicario was the sharpest 3D image I've ever seen on a screen (MKV requires a version of Total Media Theater earlier than version 6). I also sometimes work remotely and have two monitors at work. for multitasking and lots of open pages at home with this aspect ratio and high resolution it's like having 3 high quality monitors. This makes multitasking very easy. Overall, I'm glad I made this investment. I prefer this pixel density and immersive 16:9 4K (which requires even more power to run games). I'm willing to sacrifice features like 3D and high refresh rates for a display this quality from a company I trust when it comes to monitors.
