I got this after my LG DVD burner failed. I don't consider myself very experienced at burning discs, but I remember that with my old HP and LG CD burner, about every fifth disc burned ended up in the trash as a failed attempt. This LiteOn flashlight has only failed me once in 50+ burns. I haven't tried the light scribing option as I don't need that extravagance, but the burner is pretty fast and reliable. However, it's noisy - louder than my old burners and a bit bulkier in size. But for what I paid I'm satisfied. The drive comes with bloated Nero software that gave me a real headache when it couldn't uninstall properly, so be careful. In any case, you do not need any data recording software. Conclusion: Good hardware, but lousy Nero software.
