If you are concerned about over-tightening the ratchet, use the back end. This tool also fits Leatherman bits and will hold them securely on the ratchet end as long as you line up the sides of the bit properly with the locking clip. There is a slight offset that provides almost 3/8" of additional clearance when turning the ratchet compared to the length of the bit.
