These baddies were definitely what I needed for my 2005 HD 883 XL Low. The bike was bought used by a short person and I'm only 5ft 9" but they were totally worth the investment. I haven't had any issues with scratches or chipped paint, but these pegs are not without complaints. Their assembly is incredibly loose, almost to the point where you're constantly worried about them wobbling at high speeds. The shifter shakes constantly when the bike rumbles, and worse at highway speeds. Part of the pin doesn't fold because the screws holding them are too loose to keep them under tension so they just fall back when folded which causes pain when attaching a pannier. While these clothespins aren't a problem I will still buy them again as I'm cheap and want them off Amazon fast.
