Using these tongs for cooking; Turning meat in a pan and the like. After buying 5 pieces on the shelves, this is the winner! PLEASE READ - Let me explain what to look out for and what has gone wrong with other pliers I've bought. 1) Rubber grip at the end to open the pliers. Some pliers just have a round rubber coating on a metal frame, but after a few openings and closings, the metal inside will eat into the rubber, leaving only metal on the end that can be opened and closed. Not with these pliers!2 ) A piece that fits into 2 pliers that open and close them and keep them closed (to which the end handle connects). The other set I received was almost perfect but this piece was plastic and after a few openings and closings the pliers didn't stay fully closed as 2 pliers were gradually separating from the plastic. These pliers have a piece of metal that opens and closes the pliers, making sure they stay fully closed. 3) Plastic at the end of the pliers. 2 things. 1) The set I received seems almost perfect, but the plastic on the end was kind of slippery to grab food. Most tongs are good for grabbing food, but in one set I tried 2-3 times to pick up breakfast sausages in the pan to flip them. It just didn't have any texture or something was wrong causing them to slide. With these tongs, plastic does not allow food such as sausage to slip off. 4) Plastic at the end of the pliers. 2) One set I received was flimsy so while the plastic could grab lighter foods, the end of the plastic wasn't stiff enough to easily grab heavier meats like chicken breasts while scooping a way under the breast where the plastic fuses with the metal inside to grip the heavier flesh. not these pliers; They are hard to the end! Okay I'm probably laughing at being so thrilled with the tongs but after being so disappointed after going through 5 tongs in the last 2 years some of which I've only kept for a month or 2 I love these tongs really after you use several goods!
