Review on πŸͺ΅ Enhance Your Woodworking with the Magswitch Universal Featherboard Set (Pack of 2) by Tyler Parker

Very weak support, very expensive

I've always admired those who could remotely afford Featherboard's Magswitch and got a set for my new Unisaw model with a large cast iron table. I was surprised, even shocked, at how loose the magnets were when wood was pressed against them. When he pressed the tree against the spring board along the fence, it slipped slightly. So I decided to test them for a more quantitative measurement. Read on to learn more about our evaluation and watch the attached test video. RESISTANCE ONLY 22 LBS: While laying the springboards on the cast iron table, I used a force gauge to measure the point at which the springboards begin to slip. I only measured about 22 pounds before the pin boards started to slide. - WILL NOT FIT UNISAW DESK BACK: Again, I was surprised with the new Unisaw model and its large table, even shocked that the Magswitch Featherboard wouldn't fit. The magnets are too far apart for both to grip the cast iron table. The magnet above the metal needle plate slid back and forth easily. -- VERY EXPENSIVE: At $50 each, these are the most expensive feather boards. Mechanically attached pinboards are significantly cheaper and hold their position much better. Bottom line: I've always remotely admired those who could afford Magswitch pen boards, but after buying these new models, I realized they just didn't perform well enough. that their poor retention justifies the high cost.
