Review on Neretva Stainless Nonstick Breadmaker Gluten Free by Tony Battaglia

Good Bread Maker - Small Appliances

My 26 year old West Bend Bread Maker didn't work either so I bought this Neretva to replace it. Pros: The device is much smaller and lighter than I expected. I like the dial controls because they are very easy to use. The digital screen is well lit and easy to read during setup. The screen backlight goes out as shown in my video. The paddle is a non-stick metal coating that easily slides out of baked bread. The instruction manual warns against placing the machine away from the edge of the counter, as while it can "walk" while kneading, it doesn't move at all. The entire process of making the bread was fairly quiet, with a consistent hum. Cons: The control panel gets very hot when baking! I hope that the buttons, dial and screen will not suffer from the heat over time. I'm glad I ordered the extended warranty just in case. The recipes call for ingredients I've never heard of, like meatloaf and potato sludge. The result of a bad translation?! Recipes are not user friendly. Just a table of ingredients and their amounts. The control panel shows the loaf size in grams, not pounds; 750g and 900g. The handle of the bread maker is weak. While this doesn't affect performance, it does make unlocking the pan more difficult. The black print on the control panel is difficult to read on steel. For my first bread I made a favorite recipe from my previous bread baking book. It turned out great! I would definitely complement this machine with a better recipe book as the included booklet has minimal instructions, troubleshooting or recommendations. Experienced users of the bread maker will easily get used to the intuitive controls and their favorite recipes. I will update this review when I have new information to offer.
