Dont worry about that spill!

I have several of these table protectors they're that good, one for every size of table. Whether I roll or fold it always lies flat. If you drop a ton of bricks, you'll have a problem but your usual glass of wine, knife or fork is never an issue. This pad has stopped many a glass of soda or any liquid from seeping through to my table, its easy to clean. I always use trivets I wouldn't try anything that hot! heat resistant table pads are $$$$. These pads are felted on one side a sturdy plyable plastic on the other.
