Bright headlight with some problems

Pros: 1) Super bright headlight. Don't even look at it during the day. Even the low-brightness mode dazzles you when you look into the headlight. 2) Fits my narrow 22mm handlebars. 3) Powered by two AA NiMH batteries. Cons: 1) No voltage regulation. The headlight draws approximately 1.0A at 2.8VDC in high brightness mode. However, the current drawn decreases rapidly as the battery voltage drops. At 2.0VDC the current draw is about 0.05A. This will drain your fresh AA batteries fairly quickly in high brightness mode. In low brightness mode, the headlight draws 0.35A at 3.0VDC and 0.025A at 2VDC. Below 2.0VDC, the headlight will turn off suddenly in high or low brightness mode. Headlight brightness is highly dependent on battery voltage. So while you get a pretty good indication that the batteries are running low on brightness, if the voltage gets too low the headlight will suddenly turn off. In comparison, my old headlight runs down to 0.8 VDC with a much dimmer light. 2) Anything over 2.8VDC in high brightness mode will cause the light to overheat, stop emitting, and then literally short out your batteries. In this case, the batteries must be disconnected to correct the problem. No, not even the power button works in this case and your batteries will still be shorted out. At 3.0 VDC, the headlight heats up and goes out in less than a minute. With alkaline batteries, with their relatively high internal resistance, this is probably not a problem. Likewise, nickel-metal hydride batteries never exceed 2.8 VDC. I definitely wouldn't use AA lithium batteries with their higher output voltage, at least not in high brightness mode. In low brightness mode, AA lithium batteries should work just fine. 3) Depending on the seller, you may need to sign for the package. Even though I have a locked mailbox, I had to go to the post office to sign it. I didn't even get a notification of attempted delivery from USPS, and the seller didn't provide tracking information when I placed the order. Only after contacting the seller did I receive a tracking number and I had to send something to the post office. 4) The headlight is a little heavy. So if you hit a lot of bumps with the included mount, it will gradually point towards the ground. I plan to use double sided tape to reinforce it a bit. The attachment resembles a flexible watch strap with notches. So it's not possible to really tighten the mount to prevent movement. 5) Unscrew the front of the headlight a fraction of a turn (maybe 10 degrees) to remove the batteries. I had a fall while riding a bike, I noticed the headlight and the lack of batteries. Luckily I found these items in my garage, but it might as well happen while driving. As such, I would recommend taping tape around the seam to prevent the front end from twisting and falling off while riding. Other Notes: Although the headlight has some issues I give it 4 stars because it suits my needs and it was a good price. for money. Except my old headlight had the same downward lag issues and the front of the headlight fell off slightly.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Not bad
