Review on πŸ”Œ NOCO GCP1 15 Amp AC Port Plug: Convenient 125V Power Inlet Socket with Waterproof Outlet Receptacle Box & 16-Inch Integrated Outdoor Extension Cord by Jonathan Lamp

Good quality, a couple of serious design flaws

I bought it Assemble Put a good plug in my truck's front bumper to make it easier to connect the chargers for my dual AGM batteries. All in all a quality device that appears to be very waterproof, plus plus points for the small drainage hole for the cork cavity in case water gets in. The flimsy #6 sheet metal screws went in the trash, I'm sure they will eventually rust and not be strong enough. Now for the negatives, I hope someone at NOCO will read them and be able to consider a few minor changes. As others have pointed out, the "pins" in the socket are too high and the new extension will not fit unless you cut off the small tip at the end of the cable. Even your own plug at the other end does not fit into your own socket! See attached photo. Hellooooo? It looks like all you have to do is slide the plugs down into the cavity about 1/8 inch, then any extension cord will fit easily. with one of the screw holes on the front flange. See other photo. It doesn't matter if you mount this on a thin sheet metal or fiberglass surface. But in my case I had two thin surfaces about an inch apart. Due to the way I installed the socket into the bottom grille in my bumper, I couldn't use the bottom hole because the cable conflicted. The cable exit point should be rotated ("clocked") about 60 degrees, so that it does not line up with any of the mounting flange holes. Otherwise good product, would buy again and probably will if I fit a block heater.

Pros
  • Plug-N-Play - Simple, flush mount, flanged power jack, easy to install, requires no wire modification or manual wiring and mounts in a 2" hole
Cons
  • Appearance
