Review on Swann Wireless Doorway Security SWADS Alarms GL by Luke Hodes

Nice looking kit and I'm giving it 2 stars because it really works BUT. Swann needs work on this kit. For example (1) there is no on/off switch for the alarm box, you have to remove the batteries to turn it off when you don't want to turn it off (during the day?). (2) The motion sensor consumes three (3) AAA batteries (IMHO unacceptable) about every 2 weeks. (3) Although adjustable, the alarm clock is too loud on all settings, we have to put it in another room between pillows and it's still quite loud (some people might like it, but for me it's a problem). 4) has 3 separate frequency stations on the alarm box but they only give you 2 remote motion sensors? (You can buy more remotes separately) I have used this in our raccoon control pond (about 4 months) and it works as it detects when they come to eat the fish but when the sensor batteries are low I have to take it out and put it back into the sensor block, unscrew the battery cover with a small Phillips screwdriver, insert 3 new AAA batteries, then screw the cover back on and put the block back in the pond (no fun in the rain or at 3am (both ?)). Incidentally, you will find that new batteries are needed when the motion sensor starts ringing continuously (low battery), causing the alarm to keep going until you remove the batteries in one of the units and replace the sensor batteries. and . it can happen at any time of the day or night. It failed me three times at night (10pm, 1am, 3am) and once during the day. Needless to say I threw it in a box in a garage as a backup (if I ever get that desperate again) and got a Harbor Freight alarm unit (which I had a b4 Swann @ 1/2 price) which basically does the same but the motion sensor battery (a 9V) lasts 6 months and the alarm unit batteries (3C batteries) years.
