Melling pumps and strainers are what I rely on in my 1994 Chevy C2500 5.7L 350. The inlet pipe diameter is 5/8" and is sized for the M55HV pump. I recommend using an oil pump. Gripper retainer or tack welding on ANY brand oil pump I have had the gripper screen vibrate and it was coming out of the oil pump and causing catastrophic engine failure before I could do something about it.
