Eliminated Alternator Noise

After installing a brand new stereo the sound was perfectly clear until I started the engine. There was a loud noise with the engine running - a howling noise that got louder as the rpm increased as I revved the engine. With this thing mounted behind the stereo head/receiver, the oscillator hiss is gone! I have a very faint persistent static noise which I'm sure I could diagnose further if I wanted to, but it's barely noticeable so I'm done! As far as installation goes, it wasn't exactly easy for me as a beginner and it took me a bit of trial and error to get it right. I left the stereo ground in the dash connected to ground and wired the ground (black) of that thing to the truck bed to ground itself (connected with a longer wire to reach my truck floor). ). Then this thing's red wire connects to the stereo power wire (yellow, not red), and this thing's blue wire connects to the power wire in the dash (yellow, not red). I left the stereo's red ignition wire connected to the red wire in the dash.
