Review on πŸš— High-Performance FRAM Air Filter, CA8911 for Acura and Honda Cars by Profit Gilley

Revainrating 1 out of 5

poorly made with fit issues. Shame on you, Fram, for your greed!

I've been using this filter for years but my last one was terrible. the entire plastic frame was offset slightly at an angle. Plastic feels different. The gaskets did not seat well in the filter housing. While holding the filter in my hand I tried to bend it to the right angle and the whole filter SIMPLY BREAKS in half. An old frame filter I removed from the car I had to pry out by stepping on it and it still didn't break in half. It appears that the old ones were made of softer plastic and rubber, while the new ones were made of hard, brittle plastic. It's an air filter, the plastic and rubber have to be soft enough to fit the case or you won't get a good seal. I looked at the box made in China. Counting. I don't blame China for that as they can make high quality things like the Apple iPhone. HOWEVER, I blame FRAM! Fram just cut costs and hired the cheapest contractor for them while they sell it to us for the same price they made it in the US. They are most likely putting pressure on the contractor to cut costs and they don't need contractors to build them to the same specs and quality as before. sad. I think these executives are driving better cars now as they are increasing their margins while lowering quality. Shame on you, Framu! this also applies to other Fram products. I had another filter with fitting problems.
