Review on Optixcare 72-2 L-Lysine Chews for Cats & Kittens, 60 Count: In-Depth Review and Buying Guide by Eduardo Frederick

Great supplement for my kitten with herpes

We adopted Wallace a little over two months ago and during the time we had him he had three eye infections (runny nose, watery eyes). The first he came with, and the third happened when he was brought on board. The vet prescribed eye drops for the first and third infections and penicillin for the second. After the third I asked about using L-lysine supplements and he said to try giving him either 250mg or 500mg. Within 12 hours of his first dose, Wallace's eye looked better than it had after 5 days of taking it. Tears. I stopped giving him drops but gave him supplements and after 2 days his eyes were completely clear. some other additions. Wallace chews gum every morning right after he gets his morning canned food and just swallows it. Although they are quite large, probably the size of my thumbnail. If I gave them to my other cat I'd probably get in trouble, but Wallace is one of those cats who will eat anything (even though he shouldn't). Edited February 2013 to a day and a half. In over a year of giving him this gum he hasn't had a single problem with his eyes even when we fed him. Highly recommended.
