When this necklace arrived it was very shiny. So much so that it seemed incredibly cheap to me. It was silver at first, and although I haven't had it that long, it's gold now. I think it actually looks better now, still cheap, but the fact that the coating wears off so quickly is not so great. If you want it to stay silver I wouldn't recommend it at all. If you don't mind if it turns gold, you might be fine. It's on the graceful side, which is what I like. It can be a good replacement for the amulet chain. I have a few necklaces that are broken or discolored but the pendants still look beautiful. I rarely wear gold jewelry, but when I do, I can use this necklace. It's not my favorite, but it's not terrible (if you don't mind that the coating comes off so quickly).
