Thermostat works great. Reads the temperature accurately. This is where the good ends for us. This unit was used in a 20 gallon ribbon snake terrarium with wood bedding. The terrarium had about two to three inches of wood padding, and the best we could get with padding under the terrarium was about four or five degrees above ambient. We covered the top of the tank to hold more heat, I thinned the bedding over the heater area so there wasn't as much insulation over the pillow and it didn't help. As a result, I bought an incandescent lamp, which works much better in our case.
