Unnecessary starter. 150k 1993 F250 460 petrol engine. After two weeks (maybe 3 days with the truck) the magnetic gear stuck in the open position, sticking out and turning the flywheel while running. It sounded like I had a bad transfer as the transfer didn't come back. It turned out that the plastic fork mount overheated and started binding the fork, causing this problem. I was able to take the starter apart and basically use the outer magnet housing and new brushes and rebuild my original 1993 starter which now works great. This starter is a cheap DIY kit that includes all the replacement parts you need, but don't rely on just using this starter to get your truck running for more than a few days. But what do you expect, I have learned from this to only restore my original starters from now on. The original has a high-quality gearbox made of high-quality materials compared to this "new" device. The end result was a learning experience and I now have a working launcher.
