Works well for softer steel.

I have a set of kitchen knives 197mm German 1.4028 steel that seem to respond well to this sharpener. But I also have Sam's Heavy Duty Restaurant Grade Club Knife, which is thicker and heavier and doesn't seem to respond to the sharpener at all. That's why I deducted a star. So if your knives are made of thinner, maybe softer steel, then this is a great tool.
