Review on MSI MPG Z390 LGA1151 Motherboard by Jack Malloy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great motherboard for beginning builders!

I thought I knew about computers, but I collected it for the first time. The choice of the MSI Z390 Gaming Plus was the result of two decisions I made before: I wanted to use the new Intel i9 processor and I went for the red theme. Processor selection, but the first recommended board showed a warning message that a BIOS update may be required to work properly with the new generation of Intel processors. Since this is my first build and I'm more familiar with Mac than PC, this scared me. After looking at other highly rated motherboards I came across this one - and the results were amazing - and as a bonus, it's red! Literally everything was plug and play. Ports for RAM, GPU, fan, and power were easy to find and connect. There are enough internal SATA ports and an additional USB 3 port that I'll have to find a use for. So far it's working very well - the BIOS is intuitive and the board handles all the games I've thrown at it. My only complaint is the lack of built-in Type A USB ports. There are only 5. I wish there were closer to 8. The inclusion of a USB-C port is a nice touch, but I was hoping I could start move away from the clutter of USB hubs on my desk or add a port-heavy PCI card. In general, this is excellent quality. It was easy to install and I'm just happy to see it.
