Review on ๐Ÿ”ง GEARWRENCH 1/4" and 3/8" Drive 120XP Flex Head Teardrop Ratchet Set โ€“ Dual Material | 81204P by Justin Miller

Satisfied so far.

I've been using this semi-professionally (usually 3-4 times a week at tech school) for about half a year now and I think that's long enough for me to comment reasonably. Haven't had any wear issues so far, but it hasn't really been long-term, so I still tend to view it as a "lack of obvious and immediate issues". The head is also quite thin, which is nice. As for the flexible head, I personally like the latches that hold it in place, yes it's not as "infinitely" adjustable but it's probably less likely to get sloppy over time and to be honest , the gradations he has cover 99% anyway. of use cases. When he comes up he really holds the corner, I personally prefer him. I've seen a guy claim that you can't easily move it while you work, but honestly it should have the weakest fingers man knows, the engagement is positive but not difficult, and it's trivial, it rotate between positions until it is a screw. I have some problems with handles. Rubber is definitely easier to grip and less slippery, but that comes with the fact that it picks up dirt and is decidedly less durable than chrome. In general, I still prefer rubber. This particular ratchet is beautifully shaped and so far seems to hold up well to various types of liquids as well as normal wear and tear. Both ratchets in this set are quite long, especially 3/8, that can be a good or bad thing depending on the task, but 3/8 is big enough to get in the way at times, but then again that big knob gives you plenty of leverage. However, if it looked like your 3/8 ratchet, I'd look at something a few inches shorter. 1/4 I would say slightly longer than average but smaller to be honest this is where I mostly find it an advantage, some 1/4's are so short I often find it difficult to get much leverage out of each uncomfortable position.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Poor instructions
