The lock worked after driving 4400 miles across the country. One night someone tried to take my bike off but then stopped - I'm guessing they saw this passive lock and my kryptonite U-lock and just gave up. This lock worked well but was not easy to tighten as you are advised. This is probably because it was on the back of an SUV and I had to constantly open its gate to attach the bike rack straps - doing this alone didn't have the 4 hands I needed to hold the rack straps while tightening to control time. this on.
