We purchased this remote to replace a lost remote for our TV. After taking it out of the box and putting in some batteries it worked great. In some ways, the functionality has been improved over the original slider remote. It's nice to have the Netflix button right at the top of the remote, and the keyboard is easier to use. The remote control is also smaller and lighter than the original. There are several downsides. While you don't feel like it's going to fall apart, the remote is lightweight and made out of plastic. As with the original remote control, the buttons are quite small. It wasn't a problem for me and my wife, but someone with thumbs might get upset about it. Finally, the keyboard at the bottom of the remote is a bit awkward. So far I've never accidentally pressed any of the bottom buttons, but I can imagine that could be a problem. Despite possible problems with the remote control, I still have to give 4 stars. It worked great right out of the box. If it cost $50 I would find the above issues unacceptable, but this remote is very affordable and I expect it to last the rest of my TV's life.
