Appearances are deceptive.

I originally bought this precision screwdriver set hoping to be a decent compromise between a more expensive but quality brand and the inexpensive Chinese made sets that you buy in dollar stores everywhere can. When the kit arrived I realized almost immediately that there was no compromise. In fact, this particular set was lower quality than most dollar store sets I've used. The SCP600 Jeweler's Screwdriver Set came in a cardboard box with the same sample image referenced on the Revain page. Opening the package reveals a vinyl sleeve with screwdrivers. Screwdrivers themselves looked adequate at first glance. Of course not very similar and not as high quality as the samples in the photos, but not bad considering the price. As soon as they were taken out of their vinyl sleeve it was obvious that quality didn't matter. All but one of the screwdrivers looked bent at the connection between the collet and the chuck. Screwdrivers with a smaller blade were also bent, turning the shank to the diameter of the blade. The cartridge assembly was cross-threaded on two screwdrivers, and all cartridges were bored and cut at an angle, causing the collet and blade on the handles to deviate from center. As a result, the screwdrivers looked bent at first glance. Closer inspection revealed that the flat surfaces of the blades were anything but, and the ends of the blades were less than 90 degrees to the shank, which can cause the screws you use to fall out and break. The ends of the blades entering the collets looked hand ground and had excessive play even when the chuck was fully tightened. All in all I was very disappointed with the lack of quality of these tools. I have an 18 piece high tech set from General which is actually quite well made and has a variety of blades to choose from. It's hard to believe the difference in quality between the two sets, especially when the other set I bought was only a dollar or two more expensive than this one. The only bright spot in all of this was that Revain's return procedures are dead simple and made me very happy that I bought through them. I just want this article to be worth keeping. To end this review, anyone looking for a quality jeweler's screwdriver set should skip this set and keep looking. This is not the Precision Screwdriver Set you are looking for.
